Brief History of APB Foundation, Inc.
Founding, Inspiration, and Legal Establishment
APB Foundation, Inc. — Alalay sa Pamilya at Bayan — was formally organized in 2008 by Annabelle Pizarro Brown, born from a lifelong promise made in childhood. At age ten, moved by the sight of families in poverty, she resolved: if blessed, she would help others; even if poor, she would keep children clean — in body and in soul. That promise became a mission: to nurture the moral and spiritual life of Filipino youth, treating the nation’s schoolchildren as her own adopted family.
The Foundation was officially registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on November 12, 2009, solidifying its legal standing to carry out its mission nationwide.
Guided by the inspiration of Saint Josemaría Escrivá — that holiness and service grow through faithful, diligent fulfillment of daily duties — the Foundation was established to address deepening challenges: widespread poverty, eroding integrity, and a steady decline in moral and spiritual values among the young. Its vision: to revive the noble moral and cultural values of Filipinos, empowering youth, teachers, and parents to become God-fearing, happy, productive, and responsible members of society, confident in their worth as children of God.
Early Beginnings and Spiritual Formation
Long before formal incorporation and registration, Annabelle Pizarro Brown began reaching directly into public schools. In summer 2004, the work launched at Nueve de Febrero Elementary School and Pleasant Hills Elementary School, continuing through 2013. From the very start, the Foundation stood alongside schools in the spiritual and moral formation of learners — guiding and preparing students for First Confession, First Communion, and Confirmation, walking with them in these important milestones of faith and character.
Soon, through the invitation of parish priests, the work expanded to Ramon Magsaysay Cubao High School, and later to Eulogio Rodriguez High School, Potenciano Bernardo School, Kamuning Elementary School, Cubao Elementary School and Libis Elementary School — carrying forward the same dedication to values education and sacramental preparation.
In 2014, the program was formally named CACHET — Campaign for Character Education Tenacity by Dr. Antonio N. Torralba, crystallizing the Foundation’s core approach: cultivating sterling character qualities not occasionally, but with tenacity — in all places, at all times, regardless of life’s challenges.
CACHET: Mission and Scope
CACHET complements — never duplicates — the work of the Department of Education, fully aligned with DepEd’s core values: Maka-Diyos, Makatao, Makapamilya, Makakalikasan, at Makabayan. Its foundational premise: character, expressed through personal decisions, directly shapes academic performance and life success, with home and school each holding indispensable roles.
Programs include personal mentoring, monthly virtue-focused sessions, seminars, family dialogue gatherings (Usapang Pamilya), the Art Summit, Quiz Bee, and Futsal Games, Trainor’s Training for future CACHET Volunteers and Mentors — where sportsmanship, teamwork, discipline, and fair play become powerful avenues for character formation. On the court as in the classroom, young people learn respect, resilience, responsibility, and regard for others — building strength of body and character together. These are joined by the Family Games & Sports Festival and Volunteer Support — all delivered in a lay, inclusive, and joyful spirit.
Today, CACHET has grown beyond elementary schools to serve Junior and Senior High Schools nationwide, with over 1,400 registered CACHET School Associates. Students have shown remarkable growth: deeper self-awareness, greater appreciation of education, and a stronger sense of duty to family and country.
Service and Stewardship
APB Foundation operates with a lean core team — an Executive Director and Admin Assistant — while its lifeblood is a community of nearly 200 volunteers: educators, professionals, retirees, student leaders, and CACHET alumni. These dedicated allies give freely of their time, often rearranging schedules and serving without compensation, finding their reward simply in seeing young lives brighten and futures strengthen.
Founded by Annabelle Pizarro Brown, supported by her husband Walter and their family, APB Foundation remains true to its name — Allies of the Family and the Nation — inviting all to join in reviving the values that define us, and building together a stronger, nobler Philippines.
